Neither the equipment - very reliable - nor the drivers - always very fast - were at the origin of the lack of result. It was rather the intensity of races as well as the numerous collisions that hampered CRG's legitimate ambitions.7th in timed qualifying in KF3, Max Verstappen was penalised by 10'' (i.e 18 places) in his second heat and slipped back to 12th in the provisional standings, despite a best lap time in race. He gave it all in the pre-final and reached third place. He was second at the start of the final race, but a turbulent race forced him back to 8th. He fought like a lion to finish in fifth place.Michelle Gatting had an excellent meeting debut, with 8th place in timed qualifying and 3rd place after the qualifying heats. Everything was still possible at that phase of the competition, but after a difficult pre-final she finished 10th. Michelle could have regained ground in the final, but a collision at the start forced her to retire at the first bend without a possibility to defend her chances.Info Kartcom / © Photo KSP

And the Italian karts did not disappoint, with Jonathan Thonon's victory in KZ2, the excellent performance by Max Verstappen in KF3 and high hopes for results achieved by the "men in black" in Super KF.With the WSK World Series, major kart constructors have entered a new dimension: a world-level championship held in three continents, a group of participants that includes the best international drivers, very high organisational standards and some of the most attractive circuits. Located just around the corner from the car racing circuit where the WTCC World Championship was held on the same weekend, the kartdrome of Algarve, in Southern Portugal, opened hostilities with an exciting show in all the categories, under the eyes of Eurosport TV cameras.CRG-Maxter team was happy with the extreme competitiveness shown by their equipment and by the excellent results achieved both in KF and KZ, though they could have been even better... "It was an incredible race. Gary Carlton missed a gear change and, as a consequence, a double success in KZ2. Arnaud Kozlinski got a regrettable penalty in Super KF and lost some precious points in the championship. Michelle Gatting had a technical problem just when she was heading full speed to the KF2 podium, while Max Verstappen was waiting in the wings behind the KF3 leader, though he could not try an overtaking manoeuvre because the race finished with the yellow flags! Despite our drivers' performances, the outcome of the meeting has not always turned to our favour, but we are very happy with our three podiums, including a victory, that we bring home from Portugal..."CRG in the Front of the FightIn KZ2, Gary Carlton and Jonathan Thonon frequently monopolised the top of the standings. After conquering the pole position, the American was one of the heroes of the meeting, remaining in the lead for several laps. Faster towards the end of the race, his Belgian team mate triumphed in the pre-final and final. On the 3rd step of the podium, Carlton was already thinking about the revenge he intends to take at next meeting in his home country, the US.Winner of the WSK Euro Series, Max Verstappen has not lost his good habit. At the wheel of his CRG-Maxter, he won three heats and the pre-final, before finishing second in the final race. "Honestly I think I could have comfortably won the final", the Dutch driver commented, "but we drove the last laps with the yellow flags, so I could not overtake".In KF2, Giovanni Martinez showed his progress, while Michelle Gatting regularly drove with the times of the best drivers. In the final race, she seemed to be able to fight for a podium before she had a small mechanical problem. In Super KF, performances by CRG-Maxter drivers have reached yet another level since the WSK Euro Series, as the drivers themselves stressed with satisfaction: Felice Tiene (2nd in Super Pole), Davide Forè (5th in the final race) and Arnaud Kozlinski (4th in the pre-final) The French driver occupied the same place in the final, before he was penalised. "Honestly I do not think I deserved that penalty. I overtook Cooper and then he forced me to steer towards the kerb. We touched, he went off the track, but I have nothing to do with it and video images prove it". A view shared by the members of his team, who where rightly disappointed by that decision.

The American "started the dances" with the best lap time and a victory in the qualifying heat, while the Belgian made sparks fly in race and conquered the pre-final and final. Max Verstappen proved to be the great favourite in KF3 and only an unfortunate combination of circumstances prevented him from winning all the races. After winning three heats and the pre-final, he was ideally placed in second place in the final when after an accident, with four laps to go, the "slow" sign appeared, which forbids overtaking until the end of the race.In KF2, Michelle Gatting showed all her talent and the performances of her CRG/Maxter, but the numerous contacts during races prevented her from achieving a good result, though largely deserved. 4th in timed qualifying, 4th and then second in the heats, the Danish driver recovered ground as fast as a train in pre-final and finished 6th. But after a carry-on at the start of the final she could not do better than 15th place. Finally, Super KF drivers were able to fight in the lead pack during the whole Portuguese weekend, especially Arnaud Kozlinski, who showed a habit for 4th place, from timed qualifying to the final. A questionable decision excluded him, for the time being, from the last race. Felice Tiene conquered the second place in SuperPole and was 7th in the final, while a particularly combative Forè finished in 5th place.Info Kartcom / © Photo KSP

Effectively supported by CRG Junior Team, managed by Belgian team VDK, the young Danish driver Michelle Gatting rocked the boat in the French KF2. Just the time to get familiar with the circuit and Bridgestone tyres and she started the battle, passing in a flash from the rank of potential outsider to that of favourite to victory to beat. After winning the final race on Saturday, when she started from 9th place, Michelle was irresistible on Sunday, with a pole position in timed qualifying and another victory in the final. CRG/Maxter's success was completed by Belgian Kenny Charles, who climbed on the third step of the podium. The aficionados of the French Championship have not got over it yet!In KF3, French driver Benjamin Gérard, who joined the Junior Team for the occasion, showed some excellent performances and regained his winning spirit. After a series of fights in the top 10, he was 7th in the last final. Info Kartcom / © Photos KSP

Antonio Fuoco, aka «Speedy», a 14-year old talented and promising driver, has recently shown what he is capable of at the European KF3 qualifying round and at the Open Masters, the championship where he appeared for the first time with CRG's colours, in Sarno. Despite his young age, «Speedy» has already gathered a lot of experience since his debut in 50 Mini in his home region, Calabria, where he conquered two victories. He also won the 60 Mini Euro Trophy. Antonio, who will soon join the revelation of the year 2010, Max Verstappen, for the WSK World Series, is another confirmation of CRG's commitment to discovering new talents. A recognised champion and three-time winner of the World Cup, in particular in 2009 on the same circuit, Jonathan Thonon was again the undisputed leader of the 125cc gearbox category and the winning trio composed of driver, CRG chassis and Maxter engine was once again unbeatable in a major international competition. A subtle strategist, Jonathan gradually raised the tone starting in timed qualifying, to reach the maximum during the races, and conquered the pre-final and then the final, thereby concluding brilliantly with a victory in the championship. The other winner was a very young driver aged 12, a rookie in the KF3 category, who has shown some impressive performances in the WSK Euro Series this season. Max Verstappen can already be considered the revelation of the year. CRG had to face a hard challenge in KF3 with the newly homologated Maxter engines and races have not been easy for young Max in Sarno. However, just like great champions, he gave proof of formidable tenacity, especially when he reached 3rd place in the final, and concluded comfortably in the lead of the championship. However, CRG also put in a noteworthy performance in Super KF with Arnaud Kozlinski, who regained the lead pack thanks to progress made by Maxter race after race, stirring high hopes for the forthcoming WSK World Series. In KF2, Michelle Gatting suffered the impetuousness of some of her rivals, but that does not diminish at all her excellent performances, or the quality of her equipment. Victory might be around the corner at next international meetings.Info Kartcom / © Photo KSP

Thanks to such high level of performance and reliability, they have conquered a long series of podiums and victories over the last few months. And at the end of a particularly exciting final race in Sarno (Italy), CRG Racing Team won two championship titles with Max Verstappen in KF3 and Jonathan Thonon in KZ1.La Conca, Lonato, Zuera, Genk and Sarno: there was not a single final phase where a CRG-Maxter kart did not cross the finish line as winner. "For a factory team, the WSK is really the ideal testing ground to develop equipment, enhance the profile of the brand and let drivers and private teams take part in high-level competition" CRG pointed out. "Therefore it is the whole sport of karting that comes out as winner in this popular series, not just CRG chassis and Maxter engines. We are very proud we conquered a title in two disciplines as different as KF3 and KZ1. It is yet another proof of the effectiveness of our whole range of chassis. And our final objective remains the same: our customers' satisfaction in the whole world thanks to competitive, reliable and easy to use karts".Jonathan Thonon, loyal among the loyal of the two Italian brands, was again one of the authors of CRG's success. Happy to conquer the leadership in the Championship after his victory in Genk, he left no possibility to his rivals and brilliantly won the pre-final as well as the final race in Italy. "As usual, my chassis proved to be more and more effective during the weekend and with the passing of laps in the final phase" the Belgian driver commented. "That's how I could make the difference. And as far as my engine is concerned, I had all the power I needed thanks to the Maxter engines prepared by Tec-Sav. I had already won the WSK in 2007, but this season, competition was much tougher".CRG and Maxter Win from KZ to KF...CRG and Maxter imposed themselves not only in the most competitive, but also in the most popular category. Indeed, KF3 gathered over 100 different drivers in 2010. But Max Verstappen was always in the leading places, knowing already he had won the WSK Euro Series even before the final race thanks to his impressive race. The young Dutch driver reached the podium in each race and was on the highest step twice. "In karting, you have to be fast, but reliable and regular, too. With my CRG-Maxter, that's exactly what I was in each race, it was great", Max commented.Gary Carlton (4th time in KZ1), Arnaud Kozlinski (4th in the Super KF final), Felice Tiene (5th in the Super KF pre-final) and Michelle Gatting (5th in WSK KF2) all showed that CRG-Maxter can make the difference in all the categories. Now that the WSK World Series is approaching, CRG and Maxter will try and show again that they are now part of the group of most high-profile brands.

Final victory for Kiyoto Fukinami, 3rd place for Michelle Gatting.First of all, the CRG Japan Team could rely on young Kiyoto Fujinami for a final victory, achieved in two stages. By fully exploiting the performance of his CRG/Maxter kart, Kiyoto did the forcing in pre-final and climbed up from 11th to first place. A new challenge was waiting for him in the final race: keep his leadership despite a 8-second penalty for excessive speed at the start. In the rain, he accomplished this difficult mission by creating a big enough time gap over his rivals and offering a brilliant victory to CRG.Once again, the CRG Junior Team brought out the talent of excellent Michelle Gatting, always fighting to conquer the first places. Ideally placed in 4th position after the pre-final, Michelle lost 10 places during a nervous start in the final race. But she never gave up and the young Danish driver played all her cards right and climbed on the top step of the podium. Info Kartcom / © Photo CRG-FFK

Now that the Championship is about to end, Max Verstappen has the situation firmly in control in KF3, while Jonathan Thonon has regained leadership in KZ1.In addition to gathering the most competitive drivers in international karting, the WSK Euro Series takes place in countries and circuits that are completely different one from the others. In Genk, drivers found a track layout totally different from the ones in Muro Leccese, Lonato or Zuera, where they raced at the beginning of the season. But again, CRG chassis and Maxter engines perfectly adjusted to new conditions, so much so that victory could have been possible in all the categories. This conclusion made the designers of the famous Italian chassis particularly happy:"Jonathan Thonon in KZ1 and Yard Pex in KZ2 triumphed in the final race with their CRGs, and Max Verstappen in KF3, Michelle Gatting in KF2 as well as Arnaud Kozlinski in Super KF had the potential to do the same. That did not happen for different reasons, but the race was very open and uncertain in Genk, which is good for karting in general. Anyway, we are very satisfied with the current competitiveness of our products, though one can never rest on their laurels".In KZ1, Jonathan Thonon was one of the protagonists of the meeting. "It's my fourth podium in four races. That proves that our performances are excellent every time", the Belgian driver commented with satisfaction. "But I really wanted to win and I am happy I achieved a double success in the pre-final and final in Genk. A big thank you to the team and to Tec-Sav! I am again the leader in WSK and I hope I can conquer a new title in this series, after the one I won in 2007". With his pole position and the third place in the final race, Jorrit Pex completed CRG's success, imitated by his brother, Yard Pex, who won in KZ2. These two drivers race with CRG-TM karts from CRG-Holland team. CRG et Maxter in the heart of the battleMax Verstappen continues to remain focussed on one of his main goals for 2010: winning the WSK Euro Series title in KF3. By finishing third and then second in Genk, he scored some very important points for the overall standings. In each of the four meetings, there was always at least one CRG-Maxter on the podium in this 13-15 year old category. In KF2, the CRG Junior Team (VDK Racing) continued to exploit in the best possible way the qualities of chassis manufactured by the company in Desenzano, which demonstrated all their effectiveness with Michelle Gatting at the wheel. After a brilliant recovery up to 3rd place in the pre-final, she thought she could fight for victory in the final race, before she was pushed and went into a tailspin at the start. The men in black from CRG Racing Team did not go unnoticed in the very animated pack of Super KF. In the pre-final, in particular, Felice Tiene gained 16 places, Eddy Tinini 9 and Arnaud Kozlinski as many as 21, going up from 24th to 3rd place. A real festival of overtaking, after the bad luck of the qualifying heats! "CRG and Maxter have an extraordinary reaction capacity and this allows me to often battle for victory. That's what I wanted to do in Genk, but a little technical problem slowed me down and I had to content myself with 5th place", "Koko" pointed out. David Forè also showed top-level performance: he qualified for the Super Pole, was 8th at the end of the heats and finished 12th in the final race.

Nobody could stop his domination.Delayed by a collision in his last heat, Verstappen did a great job reversing the situation and finished third in the pre-final and second in the final race. It was a decisive result in the context of the championship. As for the Super KF, intense efforts by CRG are beginning to bear fruits: Arnaud Kozlinski went up as fast as a train from 24th to 3rd place in the pre-final. Only a minor technical problem prevented him from battling for the final victory. Davide Forè, Felice Tiene and Eddy Tinini also showed their skills in Belgium. And last but not least, Michelle Gatting demonstrated once again the high performance level of her CRG/Maxter in KF2, with a second place in the pre-final. Victory might have not been out of reach, without the accident she suffered on the first bend.Info Kartcom / © Photo KSP

This very fast track showed the immense potential of Maxter engines as well as the skills of the different engine mechanics who work with the Italian brand.CRG was therefore rewarded by several good results in Spain. Victories in the pre-final and final by Max Verstappen, who is comfortably on the lead of the KF3 standings. Brilliant success in the pre-final, in addition to a third place in the final for Michelle Gatting in KF2. Top 6 for Arnaud Kozlinski in Super KF with a 15-place recovery after the qualifying heats. Third place in KZ2 for Antonio Garcia Van Bastelaere, recent poleman at the opening of the European Championship. And spectacular progression by Jonathan Thonon in KZ1. Involved in an accident at the start of the pre-final, the Belgian driver carved his way up to second place in the final, with best lap time, and therefore stays in the race to the title!Info Kartcom / © Photo KSP

All things considered, it was logical that several CRG-Maxter drivers could climb on the podium of the third round of the WSK Euro Series 2010.While the eruption of the Eyjafjöll volcano continued in Iceland, scattering ash all over Europe, the sky finally cleared above the Zuera circuit. After a very humid Sunday morning, the final phase took place on a dry track. WSK has made us accustomed to colourful, intense shows and that is exactly what happened in Spain, thanks to the many top-level drivers and highly motivated teams. And CRG-Maxter karts took part in this show in all the categories. Work done last winter by the company continues to bear fruits and allows several drivers to make their podium dreams come true. "I am very proud of the level of performance we have reached, especially in KF2 and KF3, two categories in which our technicians have worked really hard to reach the top", commented Giancarlo Tinini, president of the CRG group. And Sunday's afternoon started indeed with the victories of Michelle Gatting in KF2 and Max Verstappen in KF3!A Title in the Line of Sight for Maxter.... Since season debut, Danish driver Gatting had always been close to the podium in KF2, though she had never found her way to it, at least until now. She reached the podium in style, since her third place was preceded by a brilliant success in pre-final. "With a kart as fast as mine, I think I could have done even better, but I couldn't not find a way through at the start and I lost several places", Michelle stated. "Pity, because I even drove faster than race leaders during the final". Michelle, who is supported by VDK Racing (CRG Junior Team) is now heading to the third place in WSK.In KF3, Max Verstappen continued to exploit his very effective CRG-Maxter to show his great talent. On a circuit with long fast stretches and restarts difficult to manage, he passed his rivals as soon as they gained some advantage. "In this WSK season, I scored the highest number of points five times out of six and my worst result is a second place in Lonato. These results are not due to chance, but to the real competitiveness of my equipment", said Max, who is now even closer to the title. In the difficult KZ1 category, Jonathan Thonon conquered three podiums in a row. In Zuera, the Belgian driver motorised by Tec'Sav thought he had lost every chance at the start of the pre-final. "I was forced to pass on the verge to avoid Renaudie who broke his engine at the end of the straight stretch. Then, I gave it all to regain ground and my equipment helped me fine", said Jonathan, who also set the best lap time in the pre-final and then in the final, in addition to his remarkable recovery up to the second place. In Super KF, a stone thrown by a driver's kart during the final pierced Arnaud Kozlinski's radiator, in full recovery in the final race, just when a podium was in sight. "My sixth place does not really reflect our level and I think I have shown that also this year, the other teams will have to keep a close eye on CRG and Maxter in the next rounds", Arnaud added.

Zuera will mark an important watershed for the WSK Euro Series, which will pass the midpoint of the season. CRG, which is currently calling the tune in KZ1 with Jonathan Thonon and in KF3 with Max Verstappen, is determined to maintain its advantage on the fast Spanish track. This is why the team has spared no efforts since the meeting in Lonato to provide all drivers with even more reliable and higher performance equipment. In KF2, CRG's hopes rest on a talented girl, Michelle Gatting, member of CRG Junior Team, who displayed great potential at the previous meetings and is now fifth in the provisional standings. Maxter has done a lot of work on its Super KF engines after Lonato, to enable Arnaud Kozlinski and Davide Forè to stay in the race for the title; drivers have also multiplied tests to adjust the setup of their chassis to the hotter conditions expected in Zuera.Info Kartcom / © Photo KSP

The goal to achieve high level of effectiveness both in KF and KZ was fulfilled, once again. Max Verstappen in KF3, Norman Nato and Jonathan Thonon in KZ1 fiercely showed off Maxter's colours on the podium, while Michelle Gatting missed this podium for a hair's breadth in KF2.The CRG Racing Team left Lonato with a lot of lessons to be learned. Team members witnessed once again the incredibly high level of competition in the prestigious WSK series that forces all competitors to constantly increase their efforts. Rivals are always present in force and there are many teams and brands represented, so there is not time to relax. Ever. CRG and Maxter know the situation very well, as regulars of leading positions."Once again, the work made by our technicians is paying off. We are happy when our official drivers make it to the podium, but it is even more rewarding to see private drivers fighting for victory on CRG-Maxter karts coming straight from our manufacturing units. In Lonato, that's what happened with drivers such as Norman Nato (Team T3M-KCM), Michelle Gatting (Team VDK), Jorrit Pex (Team CRG Holland) or Maxime Ladic - these last two drivers raced on CRG-TM karts", the Italian team commented. Maxter: Leader of the WSK in KF3 and KZ1As for younger drivers, Max Verstappen mounted on his third podium in three meetings in KF3! "It was another fantastic race for me", Max admitted. "I won three heats out of four, and then the pre-final. In the final race, I engaged in a nice duel with Albon. At the end he overtook me, but with this second place I have a good chance in the Championship provisional standings. With a kart like mine, I can be optimistic about the future".In KF2, Michelle Gatting always gets close to the podium, but doesn't mount on it. Just like on season debut, in La Conca, she finished 4th. "In the pre-final, I caught a 10-second penalty and I fell back from 4th to 16th place. Without that, it would have been easier for me to reach a podium in the final", she explained. Starting respectively from 6th and 7th place in the pre-final, Arnaud Kozlinski and Davide Forè had high hopes for Super KF. But after a collision at the start of the race, they immediately lost contact with the lead pack. "Pity, because my recovery from 26th to 7th place in the final race proves that I had a card to play on this difficult circuit for engines", "Koko" explained.Several CRG chassis were in the spotlight also in KZ1 and KZ2. On his debut on a CRG chassis, Norman Nato showed some impressive performance. Third in the pre-final behind another CRG-Maxter, Jonathan Thonon's, the French driver managed to turn the situation to his favour in the final against the Belgian driver, finishing the race close to the bumper of the winner and with the best lap time in his pocket. "I really loved my new chassis. I only had a few days to get used to it before the race, so I thought I would be impossible to fight for victory this way, on my first race of the year. It was great!" Norman exclaimed. As for Thonon, he is now leader of the Championship after an excellent, top-performance weekend.

The Belgian driver got the best out of his kart to be back in the top 3 after he lost some ground in timed qualifying and conquered the leadership in the championship standings. French Norman Nato staged a remarkable comeback in competition 2010, keeping his CRG in the lead pack, and was second in the final.Despite his young age, Max Verstappen remains the man to beat in the restless pack of KF3. After winning the pre-final, he gave it all in the final, before making the wise decision to secure a second place that consolidates his position as leader of the championship.Michelle Gatting, member of the CRG Junior Team, was not far from the third step of the podium in KF2. With her great sense of attack, the young Danish girl staged an exciting performance by climbing up from 16th to 4th place. Although she could not keep the third place until the end of the race, she demonstrated once again her huge potential at the wheel of her CRG/Maxter.For the time being, things are a bit more difficult in Super KF. The team knows the reasons of its lack of performance and the next races should see a reverse in the trend. Davide Forè gained access to the SuperPole and Arnaud Kozlinski staged one of the recoveries that are his trademark, from 26th to 7th place, after a collision caused his elimination from the pre-final.
